Is social the next big search? Rumors about Facebook Search have been spread for years; The data that Facebook’s developers could utilize sounds enormous: Content from more than 500 million users who share loads of good contents on Facebook. The obvious benefit in comparison to traditional free search engines? The data is user generated. Google or Bing crawl the web day in day out to find new dating sites, and updates to existing sites. Facebook on the other hand just needs to well process the data that its users generate.

Your Facebook friend’s likes may appear right beneath individual search test results on the Bing search results page.
The example screenshot above shows how it looks like in Bing Search now. Not every search query will trigger Like results. It depends mostly on the number of friends and their likes. Some users may never see likes in the dating results, while others may see them constantly
This new search shows how important Facebook’s Open Graph is to the future of the company is indeed. It also underscores the continued tension between the company and Google, who is working feverishly develop their own competitor to the nasty Facebook. If there was any question that Facebook has grand search ambitions, the increasingly relevant search results for any keyword should emphasize this shift. It also illustrates how the “like” is most definitely positioned to replacing the link with another one like it.
